"Does Steam Inhalation do more damage than good" Myth or Fact?
Since the birth of Covid-19 we have seen a debate on Steam Inhalation, there have been Whatsapp forwards that have been circulating in India that says that hot temperatures and steam inhalation can kill the virus
There are some theories that say steam inhalation can kill the virus, and then there are these other theories that say, steam inhalation can push the virus deep into the lungs.
What is true and what is not is pretty hard to tell now that there are so many theories.

“There is no evidence to prove that steam inhalation kills the virus,” says Dr. KS Satish, HOD, department of pulmonology, Vikram hospitals
Dr. Thomas Mathew professor and HOD, neurology, St John’s Medical College Hospital said. “Virologists across the world are working on preventing transmission of the virus and if Steam inhalation could kill the virus there would be no fatalities”
From videos to messages there has been an ocean of false messages spreading rather more than the virus itself. Some of them include statements like drinking hot water or seaming twice every day can kill the virus immediately.

Myth- The SARS Cov-2 virus can be killed at 40 degrees Celsius and thus steaming can kill the virus.

Myth- Adding essential oils, eucalyptus oil, or pain balm to water for steam inhalation is much more effective
Fact- Dr. Thomas Mathew professor and HOD, neurology, St John’s Medical College Hospital say, people must avoid these essential oils and balm to the water as it causes seizures and at least 2 such cases of excessive steam inhalation are reported every month in their hospital.
