Hence the Sanskrit words describe them, such as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, known as the Doshas. Vata is known to be the energy of movement. Pitta is the energy of metabolism or digestion. Kapha is known to be the energy of structure or lubrication. Almost all people have been blessed with the qualities of all three doshas. But there is always the most dominant one, and then there is the secondary dosha which the least prominent one follows.

If raw foods are consumed, better digestion is expected to be experienced. 

 In the case of fruits, it must always be remembered that juicy and ripe fruits must be preferred as they tend to balance this particular kind of dosha. You must also not forget that dry fruits must be restricted. On an empty stomach, one should opt for consuming fruits. The vata type when exposed to cold liquids or foods that generally cause a change in the balance of the body. This is because the body responds typically to moist and warmer food. These foods can be a bit heavy, and they consist of nutritious oil as well. Legume oils are difficult to be digested but can sometimes be considered in the diet. If you have a Vata type, you must always opt for consuming smaller meals about three to four times every day and opt for snacks throughout the day.

 You must also maintain the proper gap of two hours between meals and snacks. This is an essential routine in the Vata dosha type.   • Consume apples, sour fruits, dried fruits, pomegranates, pears, papaya, avocado, cherries, apricots, mangos, peaches, and melons
  • Consume vegetables like potatoes, lettuce, raw onions, tomatoes, celeriac, okra, asparagus
  • Have grains like millet, buckwheat, corn, and barley
  • Consume meats like plates of seafood, white meat, eggs, and chicken
  • Add milk products to your diets, such as yoghurt, ghee, paneer, and milk.
  • Add spices to your diet such as turmeric, pepper, allspice in small quantities.

Also, you must avoid foods like:

  • Stimulating drinks such as black tea, coffee, and cola are responsible for facilitating the nervous system.
  • Foods that are pungent, astringent, and bitter
  • Raw foods

  • Nutrition for pitta dosha body type

Unlike the Vata type, the pitta type is balanced by a perfect vegetarian diet consisting of vegetables and raw fruits. In the Pitta dosha type, cooling energizing foods is the best option to achieve the right balance. One must also opt for including any spices, seeds, and nuts in their regular diet, which must also have salty, sour, and a very sharp smell. Fruits are also included in body types, such as limes and lemons, garlic, and chilli. There are various pitta dosha recipes online which you may follow. 

 Foods that Pitta body type must include are:

  • Legumes such as chickpeas and lentils
  • Dairy products such as sweet yoghurt
  • Black tea must be consumed in moderate quantity
  • 50% of grain works great for this body type. You can opt for wholesome grains, amaranth, oats, basmati rice, quinoa, wheat, and corn in small quantities. These grains make up a good part of the meal.
  • 25% of the vegetables also help pacify the pitta doshas, and they are known to be working great in the pitta diet. Some of the vegetables you may include in the diet are cucumber, green leafy vegetables, beetroot, cauliflower, peas, cabbage, artichokes, parsnips, potatoes broccoli. You can also opt for adding seedless tomatoes but in a minimal quantity.
  • Add 15% pulses to the diet. The ones with pitta doshas are lucky enough as they can eat.
  • Pittas are lucky because they can eat all pulses with no issues. Pules work great for the pitta dosha. Just be sure they are well soaked and that you give them plenty of spices and seasoning.
  • One can also add 10% of dairy/fats and nuts. Fats must be among the smallest group on the plates of the ones with Pitta body type. These are essential for the diet; therefore, make sure you do not exceed 10%. You can opt for trying ghee as it is versatile and delicious at the same time. You can also go for olive oil or coconut oil.

  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Coffee

·         Nutritions for Kapha dosha body type

The Kapha body type is by far the most balanced by strong-smelling, bitter foods, but at the same time, they are much more attracted to salty, sweeter, and oily foods. Kapha body types tend to unbalance the fats; therefore, more decadent foods such as oils, nuts, and seeds must always be consumed, maintaining a specific limit. One can also include spices in the diet, such as garlic and ginger but not salt. The vegetables that are grown above the ground are considered to be useful for Kapha balancing. It is always recommended to add sweet, juicy, and sour vegetables and fruits. Stir-fried or steamed vegetables are considered better for digestion. One can also opt for consuming raw vegetables. There must be restrictions on consuming animal by-products. Experts recommend that one must consume roasted or baked animal by-products.

 

It is essential to add grains to the diet, but at the same time, it must also be remembered that consuming legumes must be in a limited quantity. If one opts for overeating, then unbalancing of Kapha is the expected result. 

 

Foods that you must add to your diet for Kapha dosha body type are:

  • Vegetables
  • Grains
  • Meat
  • Eggs
  • Spices
  • Oil
  • Anupama 

 Foods that must be avoided are:

  • Dairy products
  • Alcohol
