Tulsi Kadha can be made by adding one teaspoon of grated ginger and 5-6 peppercorns to a cup of boiled water with Tulsi leaves. Further, add a pinch of black salt and half cut lemon after boiling the mixture for some minutes.  Finally, let it stand for one minute before drinking it warm. Tulsi tea is also an Ayurvedic remedy for cold and cough. Add lemon juice to a boiled Tulsi leaves mixture and drink warm to get comfort from a broken, sore or cough and cold.

  •  Mulethi

To tackle sore throat, cough, and increased mucus production in the throat, Mulethi is an Ayurvedic herb that relieves coughing and helps with airway congestion. It has the property of loosening and thinning up the mucus, which blocks the air passage. Mulethi, with another name of liquorices known as "sweet wood", is an ayurvedic herb that is vital for people suffering from cold and cough.

You can add Mulethi powder to a glass of warm water drink it twice a day. You can also drink it as Mulethi tea. Prepare it by adding a teabag to a mixture of grated ginger and a piece of Mulethi root in boiling water. For best result, drink it twice a day.  Mulethi kadha can also be consumed twice a day as an effective remedy. It can be prepared by making a mixture of a quarter teaspoon Mulethi powder, a pinch of cinnamon, black powder pepper and a few Tulsi leaves and adding it to boiling water.

  • Giloy

 Giloy is another ayurvedic herb that is also known as Guduchi or Amrita in Hindi. It has heart-shaped leaves that look like betel leaves. It helps to manage cough and cold that is caused due to extreme smoke, pollution or pollen. It also helps to get rid of tonsillitis and cold. Giloy is also regarded as an effective "Ziddi khansi ka ilaj". It is also a beneficial herb that helps to boost immunity. The rich anti-inflammatory property of Giloy helps to reduce cough and, at the same time, sore throat. 

If you are taking Giloy juice, take it two teaspoons along with lukewarm water. It must be consumed empty stomach in the morning. And in case you are taking a Giloy tablet, consume it with lukewarm water every morning. You will get both the tablet and juice from any of the Ayurvedic store, or you can also opt to buy them online. 

  • Sonth

Sonth is also known as dry ginger or sukku, or sonth is one of the herbal syrup's key ingredients that help eliminate coughs. Sonth, if taken along with honey, acts as one of the soothing remedies for cold and cough. There are certain molecules that Sonth contains which are rich in anti-inflammatory properties. This helps to get rid of the sore throat. Sonth, when taken with honey, must be taken in proper proportions to reduce cough and cold. The mixture must be ¼ teaspoon of sonth along with one teaspoon of honey. It must be mixed well and taken twice a day for almost three days to see the proper result.

One can also take Sonth goli to get rid of the cough and cold. Take 2 to 3 tablespoons of desi ghee and keep the gas flame low. Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of jaggery powder and kept it for sometimes to melt. Later add 2 to 3 tablespoons of Sonth powder and mix them well. Allow the mixture to cool and make them shape into balls of bit-sized. Try to consume one goli two times a day. 

  • Cinnamon

Cinnamon is another woody spice that is aromatic and is loaded with various health benefits. One of the major benefits of cinnamon is it gives you relief from cough and cold. It not only gives a person relief from sore throats but also common cold and cough. This aromatic woody spice has much antiviral property. This proves to be very beneficial to fight against all the common viruses that cause the common cold. The anti-inflammatory properties of cinnamon help to give the best relief from the sore throat. 

You can decide to take cinnamon tea every day. Make a cup of black tea regularly and add a pinch of cinnamon tea to the tea. Try to drink tea about two to three times every day. You can also take cinnamon with honey. Consume a mixture of 1 teaspoon of honey along with ¼ teaspoon with cinnamon powder. Take the mixture two times a day for continuously three days to get relief from the issues. 

  • Pippali

Pippali is another ayurvedic herb that is effective in managing cold and cough. According to recent studies, pippali gives relief from congestion and headaches associated with the common cold. The mucus is loosened with the help of pippali and helps the one taking it to cough the mucus out. Thus it allows the patients to breathe freely and be comfortable. This is also known to be a renowned khansi ka upay. This relief from the pippali is because of the expectorant property it has. One can consume pippali churna. You need to take one pinch of pippali churna and swallow it with one teaspoon of honey. Repeat taking the mixture once or twice daily and continue taking it until and unless cough and cold subsides.

This is a native tree of both India and Southern Asia. This is mainly consumed with lukewarm water. Haritaki is considered to be the Ayurveda favourite. One should try this herb to soothe sore throat, cold, clogged nose.

 

This ayurvedic herb is packed with antioxidants that boost the function of vitamin C. It has the properties of anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is the key cause of the clogged nose and is caused in the nose's inner lining. Haritaki tends to heal inflammation and provide you with instant relief. It is also known to be rich in important nutrients like manganese, selenium, copper, iron and potassium. This powder is boiled in water and is the traditional remedy that helps treat cold.
